Established in the late 1970s and managed by the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism, this place sits on the shores of Beaver Lake and offers several picnic areas where you can have some snacks while taking in some of the most beautiful landscapes in the region.

Located just 20 miles southeast of the Bentonville city center, Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area can be reached in about half an hour by car via route AR-12. Besides the well-equipped picnic spots, this place also features five primitive campsites, several hiking and biking trails, and a shooting range.

2. Camping at Lake Wedington Recreation Area

Located about 30 miles southwest of downtown Bentonville, Lake Wedington Recreation Area is a wonderful destination to visit with your family or a group of friends. Established in the 1930s, this public recreation area features several campsites with flush toilets, picnic tables, a boat ramp, and a bathhouse. Those wanting some extra comfort can stay at one of six historic cabins available for rent.

Besides the camping spots, Lake Wedington Recreation Area features other recreational facilities including a pavilion, volleyball courts, a swimming area, a fishing pier, and several miles of hiking and biking trails. This expansive nature reserve is part of the National Register of Historic Places and welcomes thousands of visitors from all over Arkansas each year.

3. Trout Fishing at Roaring River State Park

Offering excellent fishing opportunities on the banks of the Roaring River, this state park is a wonderful destination that can be reached in about 45 minutes by car from Fayetteville, driving 35 miles northeast along route AR-72 and State Highway 112. Encompassing an area of about 4,300 acres, Roaring River State Park is managed by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and is also a wonderful destination for hiking and wildlife watching.
