The worst-case scenario with faulty headlights is the prospect of being plunged into darkness when you’re navigating bad weather conditions or a nighttime drive, rendering you invisible to other road users and unable to see the route ahead.  Avoid the risk by staying alert to the signs that it’s time to contact your Hyundai dealer about new headlights.

5 Signs That You Should Ask Your Hyundai Dealer About New Headlights

1. Dim Lights

The amount of time your bulbs will last depends on their type. Halogen bulbs are the most common and will usually last for between 450 and 1,000 hours, while LED bulbs might burn for over 40,000 hours before running out. However, one sign that your bulbs are approaching the end of their lifespan is when they become dim.

If you’ve noticed that the road ahead isn’t as well illuminated, it’s worth cleaning the headlights first in case a buildup of grime is blocking the light. However, if the headlight area is clean and the problem persists, you may need to change the bulbs.

2. One Bulb Out

It isn’t always obvious if one of your headlights has burned out, but if you notice it then it’s often a sign that the other needs replacing as well. Headlights are usually installed and replaced in pairs, so it stands to reason that if one has gone the other will shortly follow.

3. Flickering Beam

Flickering might indicate that the filament in your bulb is worn and about to burn out altogether. However, it could also mean that there’s a faulty connection or another internal issue with the headlights. Either way, if you notice that your beams are guttering then it’s time to get them checked out.

4. Blown Fuses

A blown fuse means that power cuts off to an isolated component of your car and it’s usually an easy fix. But if you find that the fuses are blowing repeatedly it could be a warning that some aspect of your headlight is malfunctioning. If you keep having to replace fuses then it’s worth booking an appointment to get the headlights looked at.

5. No High Beams

Even if your headlights seem to be working just fine, keep an eye on the high beams. If you don’t notice a difference when you switch them on, it could be that your car is suffering from an exhausted bulb or some other electrical fault.
Headlights are often easy and relatively inexpensive to fix but they make a big difference to your safety on the road, both by improving your visibility and by making other road users aware of your presence.
