The Hyundai Kona makes any drive fun. It has a peppy turbo engine, room for up to five, and it comes with lots of tech features. The Model Lineup

The entry-level Kona is the SE. It has 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, power-adjustable outboard mirrors, and power door locks. The SEL adds 17-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, integrated turn signals in the side mirrors, and keyless entry. The new SEL Plus comes with a power sunroof and fog lights, while the Limited model has 18-inch wheels, the option for Hyundai’s lime exterior paint color, and optional LED headlights and taillights. Power and Performance

The first three Konas in the lineup get their power from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 147 horsepower. The Limited and Ultimate both have a 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder that generates 175 horsepower and works with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Bumping up to the turbo engine not only gets you more power, it also bumps up the acceleration and adds to the handling. The Kona with either engine is perfect for urban driving. Its small size makes it easy to zip around crowded streets and fit in tight spaces.

Safety Features

All the Kona models come standard with a rearview camera. Every model also has advanced safety features such as forward collision warning, a driver attention monitor, and lane-keep assist. The SEL adds a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, while the Ultimate adds high-beam headlight assist, rear parking distance warning, and it has a head-up display. Adaptive cruise control is an available option for the Ultimate.

Technology

The tech in the Kona lineup starts with a 7-inch touch screen display in the SE. The infotainment system works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and comes with satellite radio. The SEL Plus adds an eight-speaker Infinity stereo system and wireless charging, and the Ultimate adds an 8-inch touch screen display and a navigation system with real-time traffic information. The Ultimate also has the Blue Link system.

Cabin

There is room for up to five passengers in the Kona. The rear seats have a 60/40 split, and the cargo area has 19.2 cubic feet of storage space. Cloth upholstery comes standard, and leather seats are either standard or available for the higher trims. Heated front seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel come in the SEL and above, and the SEL Plus has an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s-seat with lumbar support.
