Transmission problems can cause a lot of grief. You need to visit your local Hyundai dealer to make sure you fix those issues as soon as they arise. We’re going to help you identify the warning signs that you’re having trouble with your transmission.

1. Your Vehicle Won’t Switch Gears

If you’re having issues changing gears, then your transmission system may be at fault. If your vehicle currently has low transmission fluid levels or the incorrect type of fluid is currently in your vehicle, then this is usually the problem. Visit us, and we’ll make sure to top up your transmission fluid with the exact type of fluid that your vehicle needs.

2. You Smell Burning

if something smells like it’s burning in your vehicle, then you need to visit your dealership. Burning odors can indicate a myriad of problems, and transmission trouble is included in those issues. Your transmission may be overheating. You may also notice this aroma if your oil is too old and starts burning.

3. Your Vehicle Makes Noises in Neutral

If your vehicle is making strange noises while it’s in neutral, then you most likely have transmission trouble. Hopefully, the noises are just letting you know that it’s time to change your transmission oil. However, noises in neutral can also indicate the need to replace parts of your transmission. This is usually due to wear on the mechanical parts.

4. Your Gears Slip

It’s not just terrifying when your gears start slipping while you’re driving, it’s also incredibly dangerous for you and other motorists. We don’t recommend driving while your vehicle is in this condition. Call your local dealership to let us know you’re on your way and be sure to call a tow truck so you don’t have to drive to us.

5. You Have a Fluid Leak

Thankfully, a fluid leak is easy to identify. Transmission fluid is red and smells sweet, and you’ll find it under your vehicle. Be sure to let your dealership know that this is the issue you’re having when you bring your vehicle in.

You might also discover you have a fluid leak if your fluid level is rapidly decreasing. Make sure you check on your vehicle’s fluid levels frequently, because you never know when you might be having a fluid leak.

6. Shaking and Grinding

If your vehicle grinds or shakes when you change gears, then it’s a sure sign that you’re having trouble with your transmission. Take your vehicle to the dealership and let us know what’s going on ASAP.

7. Your Vehicle Doesn’t Respond

If you try to change gears but your vehicle doesn’t respond when you try to shift gears, then that’s a sign that something is wrong with the transmission. This problem typically occurs when you try to transition from park to drive, but it could occur when you’re trying to shift between other gears, too.

Need a transmission repair? Come and see us at Crain Hyundai of Bentonville now.

For over 50 years, Hyundai has been challenging and redefining cars and the technology inside of them. This rings true with the new 2022 Hyundai Kona and its revolutionary technology. Don’t just take our word for it; check out these six unique features of the new Kona.

Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop and Go

Cruise control has made it even easier to drive with the new Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go. Once you’ve set the speed limit of your choice, the car will use its radar to keep a reasonable distance from the vehicle in front of you. When the vehicle in front stops, the Kona will as well, and it will continue at your preset speed if the car in front moves within three seconds.

Bluelink Connectivity

Stay connected to all things Hyundai with the Kona’s Bluelink Connectivity, complimentary for the first three years. The Hyundai app allows you to control key functions of your car with a few taps on your phone. It will even send you monthly health reports for your Kona and will allow you to schedule any maintenance checks.

Driver Attention Warning

Hyundai has your back, especially when you are tired with the Driver Attention Warning. The DAW system will monitor your driving to detect if you veer into other lanes. If it detects a pattern, the car will notify you with an audible alert and visual notification on the digital instrument cluster.

10.25-inch Fully Digital Instrument Cluster

Hyundai has equipped the new Hyundai Kona with a Fully Digital Instrumental Cluster that makes driving fun and even more efficient. The digital display provides you with your fuel levels, speed, drive mode, and navigation. It will even provide you with your fuel efficiency to make sure you’re maximizing your mileage.

Rear Occupant Alert (ROA)

No more forgetting your groceries or other essential items in your back seat, thanks to the Rear Occupant Alert. The system uses a sensor to detect movement in your backseat. If it detects anything, or anyone, in your backseat once you turn off the engine, it will send a visual notification to your digital instrument cluster. If you miss that alert, it will even honk your horn and flash your lights.

Safe Exit Warning (SEW)

Exiting your car on busy streets is made safer with the Safe Exit Warning. The system will detect any nearby vehicles driving by, and it will send a visual and auditory alert. If you have the child safety lock on, it won’t let you remove the lock until the car has driven by.

The new Kona model makes driving fun and efficient for all. Hyundai has raised the bar for sports utility vehicles with its technological upgrades and design updates. While these are some of our favorite features, it doesn’t begin to cover them all. If you love these features as much as we do, come down to Crain Hyundai of Bentonville to try the Kona out for yourself.
