Combustion and the constant movement of a multitude of parts generate large amounts of heat in your engine. Your Hyundai has a cooling system to control this heat, and the radiator is a vital part of this system. The radiator will eventually suffer damage and start to wear out. As your Hyundai dealer, we can fix the radiator for you. These are some of the signs that you’ll need a radiator repair.

Broken Water Pump

When your engine temperature reaches a predetermined point, liquid coolant will be released into your engine. This liquid is a mix of antifreeze and water, and it has the special ability to absorb heat. The fluid is pumped through your engine to the radiator. Once it enters the radiator, the fluid flows into a series of parallel aluminum tubes. The fluid is then cooled by the airflow through the radiator grille.

The cooling system depends on the water pump, as this component has to pump the fluid through the engine. The pump can get damaged and fail. If it does, the coolant won’t be pumped through your engine. Without this coolant, your engine will rapidly begin overheating. Radiator Leak

Coolant, as we’ve seen, is essential to keep your engine temperature under control. A low level of coolant has to be due to a leak, as coolant isn’t consumed as your engine operates. If you see a pool of liquid in any of these colors, you have a coolant leak.

Damaged Radiator Fan

The coolant in your radiator is cooled by airflow over the tubes as your car moves. This lack of airflow would cause your engine temperature to rise if it wasn’t for the fan attached to the back of the radiator.

Whenever your engine temperature rises, but your car isn’t moving, the fan at the back of the radiator will come on. This fan blows cold air across the pipes and pushes the hot air out through the radiator grille. The fan can fail, and this failure might not be noticed until it’s needed. If the fan isn’t coming on when you’re stationary and your engine temperature is rising, your fan has failed.

The filter is situated above the transmission pan, and it acts to catch dirt and debris collected by the fluid. This filter can get clogged, especially if the fluid is old and contaminated. We replace the filter, gasket, pickup tube, and seal as part of your service.
