This is what happens when we service your transmission.

What’s Involved in a Routine Transmission Service at Your Hyundai Dealer

Components We Check

Transmission Fluid

Transmission fluid is vital to the efficient working of your transmission. Your transmission consists of hundreds of fast-moving parts, and these parts generate a large amount of heat. The fluid acts as a friction barrier between parts to protect them against damage. Finally, the fluid acts as a hydraulic force to enable your gears to change smoothly and easily. The does, however, need to be replaced regularly.

As transmission fluid circulates, it accumulates small metal particles, dirt, and other debris in the transmission. This debris contaminates the fluid and makes it more sluggish. This slower fluid does a less efficient job of maintaining the transmission, and older transmission fluid can lead to damage to your transmission. We check the condition of your fluid, and we’ll replace it with fresh fluid.

Transmission Pan and Gasket

The transmission pan fits underneath the transmission and contains the transmission fluid. This pan cools the fluid as it circulates through the transmission, and it also protects the fluid from contaminants. Dirt and other debris in the fluid are siphoned out of it with a magnet. The pan also protects the transmission from damage from debris thrown up from the road. Our technicians will check the pan for damage, and ensure that it’s tightly sealed.

The gasket forms a seal between the pan and the transmission. This seal is made from cork or synthetic rubber and prevents transmission fluid from leaking out. This seal can crack or suffer damage, causing a fluid leak. We check the gasket and will replace it if it’s worn or damaged.

Transmission Filter

The filter is situated above the transmission pan, and it acts to catch dirt and debris collected by the fluid. This filter can get clogged, especially if the fluid is old and contaminated. If the filter is blocked, it will restrict the flow of fluid through your transmission, and this can lead to your transmission overheating. We replace the filter, gasket, pickup tube, and seal as part of your service.
