Hyundai’s Hope On Wheels is a nonprofit organization founded by Hyundai Motor America. Since its inception, this organization has been dedicated to funding research and raising awareness to ultimately find a cure for childhood cancer. Through various fundraising activities, events, and partnerships, Hyundai’s Hope On Wheels strives to support pediatric oncology research nationwide.

History of Hyundai’s Hope on Wheels

In 1998, Hyundai, alongside a coalition of New England-area dealers, stepped up in the battle against pediatric cancer by backing a local initiative to aid the Jimmy Fund at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This grassroots movement swiftly gained nationwide momentum, evolving into what we now know as Hyundai Hope On Wheels (HHOW).

Hyundai Empowers Fight Against Cancer

As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, HHOW remains steadfast in its mission to empower children in their fight against cancer. Through dedicated efforts, HHOW endeavors to fund vital research and raise crucial awareness for childhood cancer. With the unwavering support of Hyundai Motor America, its extensive network of over 830 dealers, and loyal customers, HHOW receives a portion of proceeds from every new vehicle sold. Notably, in 2017, HHOW achieved a significant milestone, surpassing $130 million in lifetime contributions towards pediatric cancer research in the United States.

Every year, Hyundai’s Hope on Wheels holds a series of events known as “Handprint Ceremonies” at children’s hospitals and medical centers throughout the United States. During these ceremonies, children who are currently battling cancer or who have overcome it leave their handprints on a Hyundai vehicle to symbolize their individual and collective journeys in the fight against childhood cancer. These handprints are a powerful reminder of the importance of continued research and support for pediatric cancer patients and their families.
