Crain Hyundai of Bentonville 2023 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid
The Hyundai Elantra Hybrid is a top choice for commuters not only because of its fuel efficiency but also because of its long list of standard safety tech and comfort features. For the 2023 model year, the hybrid version of the Elantra doesn't see any noteworthy changes, keeping all the features drivers love about the 2022. Here's a look at some of the features and equipment available with the latest Elantra Hybrid.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
Hyundai offers the Elantra Hybrid in two different trim levels. The entry-level model is the Blue. It comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic on/off projector-beam headlights, a hands-free power trunk lid, and remote keyless entry. This base trim also has heated body-color side mirrors and LED daytime running lights. The Hybrid Limited adds to this with 17-inch alloy wheels, full LED headlights, a power tilt-and-slide sunroof, dark chrome exterior trim elements, and heated side exterior mirrors with integrated turn signals.
Engine (Power)
The hybrid powertrain that propels the Elantra consists of a 1.6-liter four-cylinder gas engine and a 32-kilowatt electric motor. These combine to generate 139 horsepower and deliver 195 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels, making front-wheel drive standard. The system uses regenerative braking to turn braking power into electric power, which helps to recharge the battery.
Performance
In the Blue, the hybrid powertrain delivers up to 53 mpg when driving in the city and up to 56 mpg for highway driving. The Limited's fuel economy drops slightly, with a 49 mpg EPA rating in the city and 52 mpg on the highway. The ride in the Elantra hybrid is smooth and comfortable, partly due to the multi-link rear suspension, which contributes to the nice ride. The dual-clutch transmission is quick and responsive, which helps to smoothly get the Elantra Hybrid up to cruising speed.
Interior
There's room for up to five people in the Elantra Hybrid. It comes with cloth upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a height-adjustable driver's seat. Stepping up to the Limited adds leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, and a power-adjustable driver's seat with memory settings. A leather-wrapped steering wheel is also standard in the Limited. Tech features in the Blue include an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite radio, and a six-speaker stereo. The Limited upgrades to a 10.25-inch touchscreen, and it adds navigation, voice recognition, and an eight-speaker stereo system.
Safety Features
Both of the 2023 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid models have a full suite of safety systems, including advanced driver aids. The safety systems include forward collision warning with automatic braking, a blind-spot monitor with rear-cross traffic collision avoidance, lane-keeping assist, and a driver attention warning system. It also comes with a safe exit warning system that will send an alert if a vehicle is approaching the Elantra when passengers exit the vehicle if a car is approaching, and it has a driver attention warning system that will alert the driver if they become fatigued. Rear automatic braking is another standard safety feature.
